How to define a person’s character from the planetary positions

Above is a summary of the characteristics attributed those born under the period of time when the Sun is in the section of the zodiacal sky known as ...Taurus. To understand a person’s character a start has to be made somewhere. The easiest way is to divide the possibilities into smaller subdivisions. In Astrology this is determined by dividing the time the Earth takes to go around the Sun (a year) into twelve parts - these are the groups we call sunsigns.

Over the years the 12 sunsign divisions have gained, what appears to be, a precise edge to the group divisions. Above you will see that I start with a specific date ... (20 April) and finish with a specific date ...... (20 May), but the reality is not so clearly defined. The average time taken for the Sun to be seen in the same part of the sky from one time to the next, is known as 1 year, but it is only that, an average time. The rest of the planets can have an effect on the movement of the Earth, slowing it down or speeding it up, ever so slightly, and this can result in a slight variation in the overall time taken to reach the same point - as much as 1 day, possibly even 2 days, earlier or later than the average time of 1 year. If you were born within two days of the Sun changing sign, it is important for you to ascertain precisely which sign you were born in, and for that it is important for the astrologer to know the year in which you were born. For the those born on days within the rest of the sunsign period the interpretation should apply, as long as there aren’t any other strong influences interfering with your expression through your sunsign.

For most of you, Taurus is the sign of purposeful determination and power. As it is an Earth Sign, you will find you were born to achieve mastery over physical matter, using various practical skills. Whenever a Taurean seeks spiritual truth they tend do so through practical aspects of life.

Taureans are fond of the good things in life and tend to focus on material possessions and acquisitions. Whatever fulfills your needs for comfort, satisfaction and pleasure you will make a great effort to acquire. Once you have succeeded in doing so, no-one else will be able to take it away from you, or persuade you to look elsewhere, without a strong fight. Taureans see to it that nothing interferes with what they want. They may desire money, but not for its own sake. To Taureans money is a means through which they can enjoy the things they can purchase with it - a means to an end.

Venus is the ruler of Taurus and this gives people born under the sign a strong appreciation of form and beauty, especially those which appeal to the sense of touch. They like good clothing, especially the textures of the textiles used to make good clothes. This is why they take such a keen interest in the physical appearance of others and are genuinely impressed by the physical image people give.

Taureans need to feel secure both emotionally and materially. They do not rush into relationships or situations, but assess and determine how the person or situation can be of use to them, yet once they have committed themselves they are fiercely loyal. This can sometimes result in them being burdened with the griefs and problems of their friends and loved ones. They can be extremely jealous and possessive of someone or something, but this only manifests if they are led to believe they are going to lose it. It is their insecurity driving them to it, and only when they feel secure in themselves, relationships, and their situations, will this extreme emotion abate.

Self-analysis is not a natural thing for Taureans to do, and are often not aware of inner motives. Yet they do possess strong willpower which can help them make plans which may not be achieved for some time, possibly years in the future. Their singlemindness, and determination to achieve their goals, makes them strive purposefully towards their goals, and the hard work usually pays off very successfully.

As a Taurean has their own way of doing things it is wiser to leave them to get on with it, and not interfere. They will get there in the end, and you will be pleased with what has been achieved.
