How to define a person’s character from the planetary positions

Above is a summary of the characteristics attributed those born under the period of time when the Sun is in the section of the zodiacal sky known as ...Scorpio. To understand a person’s character a start has to be made somewhere. The easiest way is to divide the possibilities into smaller subdivisions. In Astrology this is determined by dividing the time the Earth takes to go around the Sun (a year) into twelve parts - these are the groups we call sunsigns.

Over the years the 12 sunsign divisions have gained, what appears to be, a precise edge to the group divisions. Above you will see that I start with a specific date ... (23 October) and finish with a specific date ...... (21 November), but the reality is not so clearly defined. The average time taken for the Sun to be seen in the same part of the sky from one time to the next, is known as 1 year, but it is only that, an average time. The rest of the planets can have an effect on the movement of the Earth, slowing it down or speeding it up, ever so slightly, and this can result in a slight variation in the overall time taken to reach the same point - as much as 1 day, possibly even 2 days, earlier or later than the average time of 1 year. If you were born within two days of the Sun changing sign, it is important for you to ascertain precisely which sign you were born in, and for that it is important for the astrologer to know the year in which you were born. For the those born on days within the rest of the sunsign period the interpretation should apply, as long as there aren’t any other strong influences interfering with your expression through your sunsign.

For most of you, Scorpio is a sign which tries to improve the status quo. The desire to transform things at all levels is often too strong to be ignored. Being a fixed sign you will find you are often focused on an idea, and will do all you can to change it for the better. Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth, and it brings sudden change, enthusiasm and masses of energy to any task, including that of transition. Although classed as a Water Sign, Scorpio is at times more akin to the fire signs due to the fixed determination Scorpio people possess. Before Pluto was “discovered” by Astronomers, Mars used to rule this sign, and it has not lost its fiery aspect during its own transition of rulership.

Scorpions have power, will and intense emotional desires. Their lives are constantly struggling to conquer their desires through the creative use of the will. When in an emotional relationship they have to be careful not to become too possessive, jealous or violent. When harnessed properly they can be the most ardent of lovers and the most romantic of suitors. There is no sign so potent for good or evil as Scorpio.

People born under this sign never deal with life superficially, and whatever they become involved with is generally needs to be taken seriously. Sometimes their desire for perfection means they try to do everything themselves and these people find it difficult to delegate responsibilities to others, so they often overwork themselves.

Highly developed Scorpios are very determined defenders of justice, even in the face of death. They have tremendous staying power through their ability to focus so strongly. They will see any matter through to the bitter end, no matter what the sacrifice.

Despising weakness in themselves and often in others, this does not stop Scorpios being generous and compassionate, and they will often go out of their way to help others. Scorpio people do, however, expect those who have been helped to continue by being independent and looking after themselves from then on.

Scorpios are not renowned for being diplomatic, as they believe in expressing their ideas with unfettered truthfulness. They would rather remain silent than give a watered-down version of their true opinions and emotions.

They have an intense desire to investigate the nature of things and discover the causes behind outward manifestation. This is why they excel in subjects involving detective work, science, research and occult investigations.

They tend to be secretive, and don’t take kindly to those who give away these secret truths. In a battle they will give no quarter and expect none in return. Woe betide anyone who opposes a Scorpio without ensuring they are well protected.

Scorpios intuition and spirituality is usually well developed giving them the ability to perceive others inner thoughts and secrets as well as tapping into the regenerative forces of nature, making their accomplishments appear almost miraculous.
